Softball Sonnet

Softball is an amazing sport that I love to play. Yesterday I played a softball game. I went and pitched four and a half innings. I enjoyed myself and had a boat load of fun! I enjoyed it so much I have written a poem about it. Here is what I ended up with:

Softball Sonnet
The bright green ball released from a hand,
The batter's decision, to swing or to stand,
The loud hard crack when the ball meets the bat,
From the dugout there comes many loud cheers and chants,

A girl's running home, her goal is to slide,
The ump calls her safe, she's met with high-fives,
She walks through the dugout, all gross and sweaty,
There's grass in her hair, there's dirt on her knees

The team takes the field, they're wearing their gloves,
The shortstop yells "BUNT!", the ball bounces off,
A girl fields it and throws it, the ump then shouts "OUT!"
From the bleachers you hear, many hoorays and shouts

I'm writing a poem about a roller coaster, but it's not finished; maybe next time!
